For those unfamiliar with GNOME, it is an international open-source project with the goal of creating a complete desktop environment entirely from free software. This includes designing software development frameworks, selecting application software, and managing the programs that handle launching, file handling, and window and task management. GNOME can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, notably Linux, as well as part of the Java Desktop System in Solaris.
Emphasizing simplicity, usability, and ease-of-use, the GNOME project strives to make software that "just works." With Purple Haze, GNOME users can achieve a sleek new look for their desktops that aligns with the project's goals.
