PyESD simplifies sound daemon management by providing a Python wrapper for Enlightenment Sound Daemon. It provides developers with an easy-to-use interface in Python to work with ESD.
PyESD utilizes SWIG (Simplified Wrapper and Interface Generator) to wrap around the EsounD interface. This version of the software is built on the backing of version 0.2.8 of EsounD. However, it still functions with version 0.2.17. In addition to providing a wrapped library, the PyESD library contains a small class library. The class library offers the API a more classical object-oriented approach.
The requirements for PyESD are few. The software needs a version of Python last compiled against 2.5, though it should work with newer versions as well. SWIG version 1.3.31 is needed, however, results may vary with using other versions. Lastly, the software needs the libesd library installed.
With the latest release, everything is up to date with the latest Python and SWIG software.
