A software module written in Python that allows handling of POSIX.1e ACLs with ease.
The module has been thoroughly tested on Linux - specifically, version 2.4 of the kernel, with XFS file systems. It is also known to work well with ext2 and ext3 file systems. Furthermore, since the release of version 0.4.0, pylibacl has also received great support from FreeBSD 7. In theory, if any other platform successfully implements the POSIX.1e draft, pylibacl should be compatible with it. For example, it is believed that Solaris implements the standard, but this has not yet been tested.
This software is open-source and released under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License, meaning that it can be freely distributed and modified. Users are free to choose either version 2.1 of the license or, if they prefer, any later version that has been published by the Free Software Foundation. All in all, pylibacl receives high praise as a powerful and effective tool for manipulating POSIX.1e ACLs.
