Qt-XMMS is a XMMS plugin that supports playback of Quicktime movies, with the exception of Sorenson format.
When it comes to installation, your distribution may or may not include libquicktime4linux. If it doesn't, you can opt to unpack it into a specific directory, configure it, and build it yourself. This will allow you to proceed with configuring and building qt-xmms. Here's an example of how to do this:
# pwd /usr/local/src/qt-xmms-0.1.0
# tar zxf quicktime4linux-1.3.tar.gz
# cd quicktime4linux-1.3 # ./configure
Configuring libquicktime done
# make gcc -c `./c_flags` atom.c gcc -c `./c_flags` codecs.c
....
# cd .. # ./configure
# make
This latest release of Qt-XMMS is the first one, so there may be some issues that arise. If you find any, be sure to submit them for review. Additionally, one thing to note is that this plugin may not function properly if your hardware YUV overlays aren't available. Finally, be aware that it doesn't yet play most uncompressed formats, although it should work with jpegphoto.
