QtSqlView is a user-friendly SQL database browser built on Qt 4.x technology and equipped with high-quality QtSql components, making it simple to use.
This software was initially created to assist a group of Windows users in accessing and modifying a PostgreSQL database. The makers of the software discovered that configuring PostgreSQL's ODBC driver and ODBC DSN was too complicated for regular database editors using M$ Access and ODBC. As a result, QtSqlView's top priority is to provide problem-free access to open-source databases for all users.
While QtSqlView is not the go-to for a generic SQL database tool inclusive of a table schema editor and dialog-based data entry, it has some key features that distinguish that make it stand out. Users can add, delete, and modify a list of database connections easily. Once connected, the software allows users to browse, edit, save, and revert SQL tables, system tables, and views of registered connections seamlessly. Additionally, users can copy selected cells as tab-separated text to the clipboard, view the table schema with a primary key, and execute custom SQL queries and view results. This software also has SQL syntax highlighting in the query editor, thanks to Qt4's greatly improved SQL components.
QtSqlView is licensed under the GNU General Public License, with both the source code and win32 binary available for download at the link below. The source code package can be built on Linux, Windows, OSX and probably other Qt platforms using the usual qmake && make commands. The Windows binary version was built with Qt 4.2 and includes native drivers to access MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite databases, eliminating the need for any other software package. The versions of the included drivers are readily available and will be updated when needed.
To use QtSqlView, you need a version of Qt 4.x, which is easily accessible. Overall, QtSqlView represents an excellent way to easily access and modify SQL databases irrespective of whether you are an amateur or a veteran database editor.
