A free and open-source software that allows you to easily edit or view the creator and type codes of files.
Normally, on Mac OS X, file name extensions are extensively used to determine the application to open a certain file type. However, in several instances, only the file extension is not enough to show flexibility. For instance, if you want to open a file with a ".pdf" extension, you may want Preview.app to show a particular file while Acrobat Reader would be preferred in another case.
With QuickFileType, situations like these are handled seamlessly; when the file has a creator code, the application used to open the file is set by the creator code. Therefore, it is possible to choose the application of your choice to open a specific file by simply setting a creator code for the file. QuickFileType is a robust and efficient software that simplifies editing and managing of creator codes and type codes of file attributes.
