Rakarrack is a GNU/Linux guitar effects software that processes sound design for music production.
One of the striking features of Rakarrack is that it has integrated a tuner and a MIDI converter (experimental), making it a comprehensive package for guitarists. It can also be manipulated by an external MIDI controller, providing even more flexibility to users.
Another impressive aspect of Rakarrack is its ability to save user-designed settings in presets. These presets can then be used to create banks of effects, thus providing easy access to favourite settings.
Most of the effects offered by Rakarrack are based on the magnificent work done by Paul Nasca Octavian in ZynAddSubFX synthesizer. The compressor is also based on ArtsCompressor of Matthias Kretzer & Stefen Westerfeld. Additionally, the tuner has been adapted from tuneit, a tuner in text mode created by Mario Lang.
It is worth mentioning that Paul Nasca is the hero and a continuous inspiration behind the software. Overall, Rakarrack is a feature-packed software that is a must-try for any GNU/Linux user who is looking for a powerful yet easy-to-use guitar effects processor.
