RbVBA is a REALbasic program that interfaces with VisualBoyAdvance to play Gameboy ROMs.
RbVBA has a host of features that make it powerful and functional, including up to four different ROM directories, up to four different covers directories, integration with QJoyPad for both RbVBA use and VisualBoyAdvance, display and management of saved states, easy navigable access to VisualBoyAdvance's README for reference, console output log for error tracing, recording of individual game usage, and intelligent interface with focus on usability. RbVBA integrates with your configuration, allowing for easy setup and customization.
The installation of RbVBA is straightforward and requires only the binary RbVBA file to be placed anywhere in the system. It creates two files in the home directory - .RbVBArc and .RbVBAXPlayed - and requires VisualBoyAdvance and its configuration file to be installed. The software is configurable, and you can specify the location of the VisualBoyAdvance and its associated files.
Using RbVBA is intuitive and efficient. After executing it, you can click on the RbVBArc tab to locate the VisualBoyAdvance and its configuration file. After pointing to one ROM folder and pressing Save, the setup is complete. If you need to make further changes, click on the VisualBoyAdvance.cfg tab and point to three folders for saveDir, captureDir, and batteryDir. After pressing Save, the configuration process is complete.
The new release of RbVBA brings a couple of notable updates, including the ability to display the full path to the current ROM above the games list and adding a new 'not equal' comparison option to the unknown value Trainer search method. Overall, RbVBA is an outstanding software for Gameboy enthusiasts who want a powerful interface to their ROM collection with VisualBoyAdvance.
