RealizationEngine Desktop Status Checker is a desktop tool that notifies users of new messages in RealizationEngine. It is a standalone client that runs independently.
The creators of rcheck intended it to be an excellent demonstration for creating clients that can check and report new messages. The software allows users to request status for an account by providing the relevant URL. The results come in a specific form, i.e., total_messages:todays_messages:new_messages. For example, if you type 100:10:2 in the URL, the resultant output will be the same.
The software takes the results and XORs them against the MD5 digest (hex) of the user's password before sending it, ensuring that the data is lightly encrypted. The results are then trimmed to the length of the output, enhancing the software's effectiveness.
Once the user receives the encrypted result string from the server, they can take the MD5 digest (hex) of the user's password, trim it to the same size as the status string, and XOR the two together. This yields the plaintext of the status message.
The software comes equipped with a feature that reports new messages since the last session while discarding the other two numbers. These features enhance the software's convenience and usability. rcheck also stores a file called .rcheck2 in the local directory with account information (passwords encrypted).
Overall, rcheck is a powerful and reliable tool that guarantees top-quality performance, making it an excellent asset for any users looking for an efficient software to check the status of one or more accounts on one or more RealizationEngines.
