RecoverPhotos software retrieves damaged or formatted digital images from camera memory cards.
The program has been tested solely with a 20d camera, but any success stories are encouraged. In order to use the program, it is recommended that users first copy the contents of the card to a file on their computer using the dd command.
Once the card has been copied, the camera or flashcard can then be connected to the computer and the mount point can be checked using the mount command. The dd command should then be used to copy the flashcard to a file with the correct device name.
After copying, running the recoverPhotos program with the copied file as a parameter may result in the successful recovery of lost digital images. The program can be run without parameters to view all available options.
For users of Canon cameras with the custom function "Add Decision Data," it is important to specify the --canonADD option for the recovery of data.
The newest release of recoverPhotos supports both JPEG and Canon CR2 files.
