RFDump is a GPL software tool that interconnects directly with any RFID ISO-reader, enabling the reading of the contents stored on RFID tags.
Since presenting RFDump at the Blackhat Conference in 2004, they have received an overwhelming amount of feedback. As a result, they are working on making their Web Site a forum where all people interested or concerned about RFID technology can discuss and exchange their opinion in an open environment.
One of the key features of RFDump is that it can detect RFID-Tags and show their meta information. This includes Tag ID, Tag Type, manufacturer, and other details. The user-data of a tag can be displayed and modified using either a Hex or an ASCII editor. In addition, the integrated cookie feature demonstrates how simple it is for a company to abuse RFID technology to spy on their customers. RFDump works with the ACG Multi-Tag Reader or similar card reader hardware.
RFDump runs on both Linux and Windows, supports ACG's PCMCIA/CF Multi-Tag Readers, and is compatible with many types of tags. It decodes the tag type, tag ID, and manufacturer, and displays tag memory in both Hex and ASCII encoding. The software also allows users to write memory using either a Hex or ASCII editor. This latest release also supports full 14443 a/b support, Mifare sector keys, and multi-baudrate reader support.
Overall, RFDump is a powerful tool that provides users with an easy way to audit RFID tags and detect potential vulnerabilities. It is recommended for use with Linux/Windows PC or HP iPAQ PDA with Linux, ACG Multi-Tag Reader, and 13.56 MHz tags for testing. The software is constantly updated and improved to provide users with even better performance and functionality.
