RubyRoom is a minimalist fullscreen text editor software developed using gtk2 interface, designed to provide a distraction-free writing experience. The software facilitates seamless, uninterrupted and focused writing by providing a clean, simple and visually soothing interface for users.
Ruby, the programming language behind RubyRoom, is an incredibly versatile and dynamic programming language that is object-oriented and supports multiple paradigms, including functional and imperative. It features automatic memory management and a dynamic type system, making it similar to Python, Lisp, and other programming languages.
The language was created by Yukihiro Matsumoto in the mid-1990s and has since spawned a number of alternative language implementations, such as Rubinius and JRuby.
To utilize RubyRoom, you will need Screenlets and Ruby-GNOME2. This latest release of RubyRoom includes helpful new features such as a help function, a toggle for status text and fadeout, and an updated ESC/F10/Quit mechanism.
All of your writing preferences can be customized in the preference file, located at ~/.rubyroomrc. If you're looking for a distraction-free and optimized writing experience, then RubyRoom is definitely worth checking out!
