SBackup is a basic desktop backup software designed to provide simple backup solutions. It aims to protect user data with a minimalistic approach.
Using gnome-vfs, SBackup allows you to save your backups to local and remote directories. Developed as part of Google Summer of Code 2005 for use in Ubuntu GNU/Linux distribution, SBackup is an effective tool for safeguarding your important files.
To use SBackup, you need to install python and python-gnome2 libraries. After that, run 'make install' in the same directory as this README file, and configure your backup using the simple-backup-config tool. Be sure to save your configuration.
If you're not running a Debian-derived distribution, you can comment out lines that back up the list of installed packages on a Debian system. An automatic test will be added soon. Though the lack of the dpkg command may not raise an exception, it is recommended that you double-check your backup.
For restoring backups, you can use srestore.py, a command line restore tool, or simple-restore-gnome, the Gnome equivalent.
In this release, most of the bugs that were found in the 0.10 branch have been fixed. There are no new features unless required by the bugs in question. This makes the tool suitable for stable production environments.
