SearchTorrent is a screenlet that assists in locating torrents on the internet, condensing the search process.
One of the most helpful features of SearchTorrent is the ability to customize your search preferences. Within the properties menu, you can choose from a list of popular torrent sites to search, including Thepiratebay, Mininova and Torrentz. You can also specify which files you'd like to download by clicking on the blue link that appears, which should initiate the .torrent download.
In terms of technology, SearchTorrent relies on Screenlets, which is both a collection of widget applications and a widget engine that powers them. The engine is designed to work with X11-based compositing window managers, particularly the Compiz architecture for Linux. Until version 0.0.14, Screenlets were exclusively scripted in Python and drawn in SVG. However, later versions added support for web widgets, which are HTML, JavaScript and CSS-based like those for Apple Inc.'s Dashboard.
To use SearchTorrent, you'll need to have Screenlets installed on your device. Once you've installed it, you can easily integrate SearchTorrent into your widget set.
The latest version of SearchTorrent includes a number of new features, including an event that responds to the middle mouse button click. Now, when you click the middle button, you can view details about the torrent link in your browser. This release is designed to help you streamline your search experience and get the most out of SearchTorrent.
