Seedit is a user-friendly software tool that simplifies the application of SELinux policies by providing an easy-to-use interface.
With Simplified Policy, you can take advantage of the Simplified Policy Description Language (SPDL) to hide the details of SELinux configurations. This is achieved through the use of name-based configuration and by reducing the number of permissions required.
One of the standout features of SELinux Policy Editor is the included GUI, which makes it incredibly easy to generate SPDL policies. Rather than requiring administrators to remember complex syntax, the GUI is intuitive and user-friendly. In addition to the GUI, there are also command-line tools included in the package.
For example, consider the following policy for Apache, which utilizes SPDL: domain httpd_t; program /usr/sbin/httpd; allow /var/www/** r,s; allownet -protocol tcp -port 80 server; As you can see, with SPDL you don't need to worry about complicated type definitions – simply use file names and port numbers to define your configuration.
If you're interested in trying out SELinux Policy Editor, it's worth noting that it's compatible with Fedora Core 5. Additionally, it won't affect existing SELinux policies, so you can easily switch back to the default configuration if necessary. The only requirement is that you have GTK+ version 2.2.x installed.
