SendIP is a command-line program that permits sending of diverse packets.
SendIP supports automated checksum calculations, but it is also possible to send packets with incorrect checksums, making it an ideal fit for situations that require such functionality. Among the protocols that SendIP supports include TCP, BGP, ICMP, UDP, RIP, NTP, and IPv6 (except for solaris). The software also supports other protocols that will be added to future versions.
The installation process for this software is straightforward, and users can use GNU make to install it. However, Solaris users need to use gcc-3.x and above, as well as GNU binutils. The software creator is also available to assist with installation issues.
SendIP allows users to customize the installation location by changing BINDIR and/or PREFIX in the Makefile. Additionally, the software comes with a .spec file that makes it possible to build RPMS, and source and binary RPMS are accessible from the software's web page.
The usage of SendIP requires a set of command line parameters, and future versions may incorporate some sort of user interface. However, the software's manual page and "sendip -h" contain detailed information on the available commands. It is essential to note that the commands tend to change with different versions of the software.
