The Shared Picture Map is a module that enables users to share images through Aperture and iPhoto with ease. It provides a platform for seamless image sharing, making the process much more efficient and convenient.
The use case for Shared Picture Map is straightforward. A QuarkXPress user can create a layout and leave specific picture boxes empty. This layout is then exported as a zip package, which can be sent via email, FTP, or file sharing to an Aperture/iPhoto user. Shared Picture Map then proceeds to export previews and layout geometry as a zip archive that can be manually sent to the Aperture/iPhoto user.
When Aperture/iPhoto users work on their images, they can select “QuarkXPress Project” during the export process. Shared Picture Map's Aperture/iPhoto plugin then allows them to open the zip archive and drag and drop selected images into layout boxes. It is essential to note that there is no requirement for the QuarkXPress application to open the zip archive.
The zip archive is updated with image information and can then be sent back to the QuarkXPress user to update the original QuarkXPress project file. Throughout this process, the QuarkXPress user can continue working on the layout.
Shared Image Map enables layout and image artists to collaborate on a project simultaneously. A QuarkXPress user can now delegate image work right at the start of project work and continue working without waiting for finished images to come back.
The requirements needed to run Shared Picture Map are QuarkXPress 7.3 and iPhoto 08. Overall, Shared Picture Map is an incredibly useful software tool that makes the process of exchanging images and layouts between QuarkXPress and Apple's Aperture/iPhoto software applications a breeze.
