SIP UMS is a messaging server designed for SEMS/IVR, enabling seamless integration of unified messaging for users.
To install SIP UMS, you need to have MySQL and the latest version of Perl installed. Also, Perl DBI and DBD::mysql are mandatory requirements. After fulfilling these requirements, you can proceed with the installation process.
The first step is to create the database using the command "mysql -user -p voicemail < OpenUMS/db/voicemaildb.sql" while ensuring that you have root access. You can install the voicemail database under the same user that is using the ser database, as this will be the best way for SIP UMS to run smoothly.
Once you have created the database, you can install OpenUMS by running the command "cd OpenUMS make install." It will be installed in /usr/local/openums by default.
After installation, you need to configure OpenUMS by modifying the settings in OpenUMS/Config.pm and global_settings table. You must not delete any variables from the table without confirming where they are being used. Also, you need to create media directories for the default accounts, such as prompts, spool/temp, and users.
Finally, you can add Sems Media scripts to use OpenUMS under SEMS. These scripts are still under development, and you can find sample scripts under the 'scripts' directory. By adding test.pl to your SEMS environment, you can make a call associated with it and listen to the test prompt.
Overall, SIP UMS is an outstanding software that provides an extendable voicemail and IVR platform that works perfectly with SEMS/IVR. If you face any queries regarding the installation process or scripts, the support team will promptly reply to your queries on the mailing list.
