SN-Webcam is a software that records and exhibits frames from Sonix/Microdia webcams based on sn9c102 technology.
To use sn-webcam, you'll need to have libjpeg, Simple DirectMedia Layer, and SDL_ttf (Default branch) installed on your machine. However, once you've got these requirements met, you'll be good to go!
This recent release of sn-webcam offers a number of exciting features and improvements. Users can now grab photos, as well as easily set image properties like brightness, contrast, and exposure. The software supports both native pixel formats over USB - Sequential RGB Bayer and Huffman compressed - with Huffman compressed allowing for high frame rates.
Users can also enjoy a variable window refresh delay, a reset camera to default factory settings feature, and a timestamp feature. Additionally, the software has seen improvements in compilation with optional SDL_TTF, as well as enhanced sgml documentation. Thanks to bug reports and feedback from users like Luca Fini, the software has received various bug fixes, with some lacking "free()" added and control keys remapped for a more ergonomic experience.
Finally, users will appreciate the convenience of the program moving the webcam.conf into sn-webcam.conf, as well as saving images directly into a ./grab directory and even saving jpeg directly without GUI. Overall, sn-webcam is an excellent software, and this recent release is a testament to the great work done by the development team.
