Spurl is a Firefox add-on that enables you to make use of the spurl.net bookmarking service.
The Spurl sidebar is created as a native sidebar and a shortcut is added as Ctrl+Shift+S. Additionally, the 'Spurl' menubar item is added to the Bookmarks toolbar menu with a shortcut of Alt+Shift+D, which is similar to Ctrl+D, the shortcut to add a page to bookmarks.
Two new options, 'Spurl this page...' and 'Spurl this link...', are added to the context menu when you right click on content. There is also a right click menu in the sidebar with items such as 'My Spurls', 'Forum', 'Stream', and 'Export', which open corresponding pages on the content area. There is even a 'Close' option to quickly and easily close the sidebar.
One of the most rocking features of this extension is the addition of 'Open in New Tab' to the right click menu for links on the sidebar, which opens links in a new tab in the browser.
Lastly, the extension ensures that the sidebar opens in a width that fits the top menu of the spurl sidebar page in one row, regardless of how you left the sidebar width on the previous session.
All of these features are available with just one installation, and the only requirement is Firefox. The Spurlbar extension is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the Spurl bookmarking service.
