SQL-Ledger is a comprehensive accounting software that uses a double entry system to manage financial transactions.
The system is designed with a chart of accounts that links each inventory item to income, expense, inventory and tax accounts. It provides automatic updates to the accounts when items are purchased or sold. With the assembly feature, you can easily build composed goods using parts, services, labor units, and assemblies. The software automatically updates all linked accounts, and adjusts stock accordingly when an assembly is sold.
SQL-Ledger offers a vast array of financial document templates, including invoices, packing slips, income statements, balance sheets, sales, work and purchase orders, statements, receipts, and checks. These templates can be customized according to your organization's needs, with the option of generating documents in html, tex, and text formats. The tex templates can be processed using LaTex to create postscript and PDF documents, which can be sent to a printer, file, fax, displayed using a PDF viewer, or sent via email.
The software features a translation mechanism for items and foreign language templates. This allows you to generate invoices in a foreign language without any knowledge of that language. Additionally, this feature can be used to generate different forms for customers and vendors of different languages.
SQL-Ledger is developed by DWS Systems Inc. and provides ongoing support and customizations. It is free and distributed under the GPL license. The software can be used on any UNIX, Mac OS X, or Windows computer.
