SSH-Smart is a small proof-of-concept software that stores private identity from SSH onto a smartcard (memory card).
However, SSH-SMART is still in its early stages of development and has a lot of room for improvement before it can provide a reliable and secure way to store SSH identities (and potentially OpenPGP in the future). The initial release is meant to spark ideas and promote the development of similar software.
To install SSH-SMART, users simply need to execute the following commands: "tar xvfz ssh-smart-0.0.1.tar.gz cd ./ssh-smart-0.0.1 ./compile". The smartcard program will compile, and users will see a lot of output. If the compilation is successful, SSH-SMART will be ready to use.
In the latest release, documentation has been updated to reflect changes in the software. Additionally, a significant error related to the write command's offset has been resolved, ultimately fixing the >255 bytes problem.
Overall, while SSH-SMART is still in its development stage, it has the potential to revolutionize SSH identity storage and promote greater security in SSH usage.
