Stave Squash is a MIDI keyboard controlled game software that lets players use their keyboard as an input device to control game actions.
The gameplay of Stave Squash revolves around a bat that moves up and down a musical stave based on the notes played on the MIDI keyboard. Players who are faster at identifying notes on the stave and playing the correct notes on the keyboard will perform better in the game. Frequent gameplay of Stave Squash can significantly enhance these skills.
The objective of the game is to hit the musical note bouncing around the stave with your bat. The game indicates the position on the stave where the bat should be moved to and displays the name of the note to be played when the note bounces off the back wall. If you hit the note, you score points. On the other hand, if you miss it, you have to wait for it to come back again.
Stave Squash is divided into five rounds, each with increasing levels of difficulty and a predetermined time limit. To advance to the next round, players must hit a certain number of notes. Failure to do so will lead to the end of the game.
In terms of scoring, players gain points by hitting the musical note with their bat. The quicker the player's reaction time, the more points they can earn per hit. Additionally, bonus points are awarded upon completing a round. Players who achieve the highest score will be able to store their initials, which will be kept in the game as the benchmark for future players.
The graphics of Stave Squash are simple, clear, and unobtrusive, emphasizing the positions on the stave and the note names. Stave Squash has certain requirements to run, such as MacOS X 10.4 or later and a MIDI keyboard. The game comes with a 14-day trial period.
