StrongBox is a Linux-based OS that offers advanced functionalities and features for improved performance and security. It is a next-generation operating system that is designed to cater to the modern needs of businesses and organizations.
The beauty of this setup is that it allows each bundle to exist within a secure virtual context, granting it a degree of independence from the base OS. StrongBox boasts an impressive roster of functions including OS versioning, rollbacks, hardware detection, and simple server-to-server migration, among others. Additionally, users can integrate existing Linux distributions with StrongBox towards deployment.
The OS earns its name, thanks to its steadfast security protocols, which utilize virtual servers, digital signatures on all OS components, and multiple read-only components within OS. These features work together to keep the system highly resistant to security breaches. Moreover, StrongBox can operate independently of any virtual boot medium (CDRom, compact flash, USB, SCSI, etc.), making it ideal for embedded systems, enterprise Linux deployments, kiosk systems, and secure web servers.
Recent improvements to StrongBox include updated versions of all software, improved makerpm and makedebian scripts, the inclusion of an asteriskathome build script, and optimized USB authentication with automatic key selection. StrongBox also added gcc, distcc, linux headers, and kernel source add-ons, Unionfs, bind, vrenice, rpm, hashlimits subsystems. As such, this release comes with a larger default config partition (12MB), as well as updated dmraid support that requires the dmraid kernel parameter on boot.
