sunShield is a preference pane that controls the OS X built-in firewall. It allows users to manage and customize their firewall settings with ease.
SunShield Pro offers support for rules packs, sunShield EXchange files, that apply a bunch of rules to match a typical configuration, along with templates for specific services. The software is PPC and Intel ready and supports IPFW2, shipped with Tiger. Additionally, it provides advanced actions, advanced protocol options, and functionality to easily turn the firewall on or off.
Users can create all kinds of basic or dynamic rules, and support is provided for enforcing rules based on user sending a packet. Other features include the ability to enable or disable logging system-wide, live logs, export rule base to an rc.firewall script, and reorder rules with simple drag and drop.
SunShield Pro also has extras like support for NATd configuration (Router mode), displays info about interfaces and traffic, ships with many templates and lets you create your templates share them.
The software is available in English, French, and more languages to follow. However, the product is limited to a 15-day expiration.
