Sybase provides extensions to Perl enabling database access and manipulation. These extensions offer a seamless integration between Perl scripts and Sybase databases for efficient data retrieval and management.
Sybase::DBlib, one of the modules included in Sybperl, provides a subset of the Sybase DB-Library API. The Sybase::CTlib module, on the other hand, offers support for the Sybase CT-Library (also known as the Client Library) API. Finally, the Sybase::Sybperl module is designed to provide backwards compatibility (implemented on top of Sybase::DBlib) for scripts created using sybperl 1.0xx that need to be run on Perl 5.
While Sybase::Sybperl can be used in conjunction with Sybase::DBlib and Sybase::CTlib, it's important to remember that using all three modules in the same script may not work as expected. Regardless, the SYNOPSIS code clearly shows how to implement the various modules within your code: simply use Sybase::DBlib, Sybase::CTlib, and/or Sybase::Sybperl as needed. Overall, Sybperl is a must-have for any Sybase and Perl developer looking to streamline their workflow.
