T1utils offers software tools to manipulate simple type-1 fonts in a collection of programs.
In addition, the software has the ability to extract font resources from a Macintosh font file (ATM/Laserwriter), or create a Macintosh Type 1 font file from a PFA or PFB font. With t1utils, you have access to all of the tools that you need to ensure that your work looks and feels right.
The six programs that are included in the t1utils collection are: t1ascii, t1binary, t1disasm, t1asm, t1unmac, and t1mac. Each of these programs is designed to help you get the most out of your type-1 fonts.
Installation of t1utils is incredibly straightforward. You just need an ANSI C compiler, such as gcc. Once you have that, just type `./configure', then `make'. `make install' will build and install the utilities and their manual pages. ./configure' accepts the usual options. See `INSTALL' for more details.
The most commonly used option is `--prefix', which can be used to install the utilities in a place other than /usr/local. It's really that simple!
What's New in This Release? The latest version of t1utils offers a fix for a memory corruption bug that was reported by Werner Lemberg. Thanks to this update, you can trust that your type-1 fonts will be more stable than ever before.
Overall, t1utils is an excellent choice for anyone who needs powerful tools for type-1 font manipulation. Whether you're a graphic designer or a professional in the media industry, t1utils has everything that you need to get the job done right.
