TAON is a sleek sound editor featuring plugin support, designed for convenient editing of audio content.
To run TAON, you'll need a Linux system with kernel 2.2.x generation, and X installed for the GUI. We recommend using a 3 button mouse, or emulating the middle button by chording two buttons. TAON is built on gtk+ v1.2.x, so it's also necessary to have that installed along with an up-to-date glib.
A working soundcard that uses OSS in /dev/dsp0 is required for audio output, and a fast processor is recommended for optimal performance. Additionally, libc6 (glibc2) and kdehelp are necessary if you want online help.
The latest release of TAON includes several bug fixes, such as resolving a memory error when selecting the whole waveform and cutting, fixing undo functionality when starting with an empty file and using a generator plugin, and resolving display issues with gtk+ themes.
There's also a new feature in the form of a SID Reader plugin created by Myth^PNR, although it does have a known bug that users should be aware of when trying to use it.
Overall, TAON offers a great editing experience with plenty of options for customization and expansion through plugins.
