THC-Yaotp is a one-time pad implementation tool for highly paranoid geeks. It offers increased security but is not practical for most users.
THC Yaotp also has a key management feature that enforces one-time usage and irreproducible key destruction, similar to secure-delete, and obligatory message compression, checksumming, uuencoding, and PGP-like ASCII output. The software is designed for the true security fanatic with no whistles and bells, and is even said to be NSA-resistant.
To give an example message, the software allows users to begin a message using “BEGIN YAOTP MSG” and end it with “END YAOTP MSG”. It even provides a corresponding test.key file with a total key size of 8192 to decrypt the message. The key label is “Test Key”, and the creation time is the 5th of August, 2004, at 16:14:55.
To decrypt the above message, users can easily download the key and this page and execute Yaotp with specific options. The instructions are as follows:
$ wget www.thc.org/thc-yaotp/test.key
$ wget www.thc.org/thc-yaotp/index.html
$ cat index.html | yaotp -k test.key -d -v.
Overall, THC-Yaotp is a great software tool for those who value secure encryption and want to ensure their data is safe.
