Modular Manual Browser is a collection of scripts functioning as a man/apropos substitute.
Setting up this program is simple, and it boasts a range of features that include highlighting, linking support in man pages, browsing and searching pages, categories, and manuals. Additionally, it can also create a database that contains descriptions of pages based on their titles.
In its latest release, the Modular Manual Browser has undergone a significant series of updates. Bugs and installation data have been moved to their respective directories, and api has been split up so that modman can be dropped directly into webspace.
The new update also allows for multi-line descriptions to be picked up by mandb.php. Apropos results can now be filtered by Section or Manual, and the capabilities of whatis database have been improved, now enabling local apropos and description support.
Overall, Release 1.2 - The Small-Box/WhatIS Release - offers users an efficient and sophisticated way of browsing and indexing manual pages across multiple operating systems, and with its latest set of updates, it sets itself apart as an invaluable tool for developers and users alike.
