GoogleStaticMap Trac Macro is a software tool designed to integrate Google Maps directly into Trac Wiki pages. It features options to display maps with custom markers, zoom levels, and styles to provide a comprehensive view of desired locations. Its compact size and ease of use enable seamless integration with Trac software.
One limitation of the TracGoogleStaticMapMacro is its maximum supported size, which is 640x640 pixels. Any requests for a bigger width or height will be resized to this limit. To enable this macro, users should add the following code in their trac.ini configuration file: [components] tracgooglestaticmapmacro.* = enabled.
The installation and configuration is relatively simple. Users only need to copy the python file in the plugin directory of their trac installation. Additionally, a different Google Map API key is needed for every web domain, which can be obtained for free from Google. After obtaining the API key, users can enable the macro by adding the following code in their trac.ini file, located in the config directory of their trac installation. Restarting trac is required to reread the macro file and configuration file.
The TracGoogleStaticMapMacro also comes with optional settings, including default size and default language. Users can customize these settings by adding the following code in their trac.ini file: [components] googlestaticmap.* = enabled [googlestaticmap] api_key = # Optional settings: #default_size = 300x300 #default_language = de.
