TravTrack is a software used for generating and editing Galaxies in the Traveller game, with a focus on providing an immersive experience for players.
One of the key features of Travtrack is that it currently uses the GURPS Traveller: First In rules for system generation. However, a subproject is underway to add Classic Traveller generation and output to the software. To make building a Traveller application even easier, the program features travlib, a collection of C routines that should make writing a Traveller application much simpler. Additionally, the software provides a guile interface to the data representation functions.
The software offers a range of useful features, including hex-mapped navigational data display for subsectors, display of system, stellar and planetary information, galactic and sector maps display, display of systems as orbits, display of planets as orbits (i.e., with moons orbiting), and generation of subsectors, systems, stars, planets, belts, and moons. It can also generate world information, such as governments, TL, and more.
Auto-generation of merchant routes is also supported, making Travtrack an all-in-one solution for Traveller referees. The software also has robust support for Classic and GURPS Traveller rulesets.
To use the software, you will need GNOME 2.6, PyGTK 2.4, and Python 2.3.3. In the latest release, Scheme printing has been implemented and XML-like printing is now deprecated and may be removed in the future. The complement, Scheme reading, has also been implemented in this release.
Overall, Travtrack is an excellent choice for Traveller referees who need to keep track of essential game data effectively. Many of its features are unmatched and make the software a valuable asset.
