Trebuchet Tk is software that enables users to connect to TinyMUD-style social MUD servers on the internet. It serves as a client program for this purpose.
Trebuchet also supports SSL encrypted connections to MU* servers that support it, provided the user has the TLS extension to the TCL interpreter installed. The software offers features like Hilites and Triggers that can highlight all or part of each line, automatically send commands back to the MUD or run TCL scripts, with flexible pattern matching schemes – Starts with, ends with, contains, wildcard matching, and regexp matching.
Hilites styles can include text color, background color, font, size, bold, italic, etc., and have StyleMenu entries associated with them that pop up in context menus. Users can create QuickButtons that send commands or execute TCL scripts with a single click and KeyBinds to send commands or execute TCL scripts with a few keystrokes or one. The program also enables users to connect to multiple worlds simultaneously, each with its scrollback buffer.
Users can search scrollback forwards or backward, using literal text or regular expressions, log text from a world to a file in either formatted HTML or plain text format, quote a file to the world with prepended and/or appended text for each line. An integrated Scratchpad lets users edit text files or descriptions and send them to a world. Almost all features come with keyboard-based methods to invoke them, except QuickButtons. All these features offer command-line interfaces as well as GUI interfaces.
This cross-platform software works on Windows 95/98/2000/XP, Unix with Xwindows, and MacOS X. In the latest version, it offers various TELNET protocol fixes for EOR, some better validation for various dialogs, numerous small bugfixes, and support for STARTTLS encryption protocol. To sum up, Trebuchet Tk is a powerful software that supports a wide range of MUDs and offers high levels of customization for users, making it easy and convenient to use with a simple and intuitive interface.
