Tree MDI is a web browser that can browse files and web pages while reading and saving file formats like GRML, CSV or character-delimited. It's an MDI browser that can support multiple browser windows with individual content and navigation history for each window.
A browser window has two key components which include a form and a view. The form controls web requests and the view displays the results. Both files and web pages use GRML, CSV or character-delimited formats, however, only GRML uses a form while all formats utilize a view.
The form comprises several input controls like edit boxes, drop-down boxes, buttons, etc. and these input controls capture the user input. When a form is submitted, the input from these controls is sent to a specific destination. Tree MDI is optimized to be a single-form web browser using at most one form on each web page.
The view displays the results and uses columns to define how many items are in a result. Results are displayed using a tree control, whereby the first item is displayed as a parent and all other items are displayed as children to this parent. By clicking the ‘+’ next to the parent item, the child items are displayed, providing access to deeper levels of content.
When file or web page results are initially displayed in Tree MDI, only the first item is visible. If a result item has a hyperlink, double-clicking on this item sends a file or web page request. The software allows users to use the ‘Send To’ menu item to send the link to another application.
Editing is only possible with child items. While the first item of a result is displayed, it is not editable. The ‘+’ symbol next to the item must be clicked to reveal the child items, which are editable. Select an item and go to the Details window, edit the item, and select another item to complete the submission of changes.
The Workspace Explorer browses the workspace which contains all the browser windows. The workspace supports none, one, or multiple browser windows. Also, the History window displays submitted file and web page requests. Tree MDI allows users to use the Details window to edit the result items as required.
