Triplex Invaders is a 3D game with a classic Alien Invaders gameplay. The game is designed to bring the nostalgia of the old school experience with enhanced graphics.
The game's psychedelic graphics feature hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics thanks to the use of pyOpenGL. PyGame also powers input and other functionality. Triplex Invaders is coded in Python, making it compatible across multiple operating systems like Linux, Windows, and OSX.
While Python may not be the speediest language, Invaders generally runs smoothly, though slower computers could experience stuttering or lag as the game progresses. However, most hardware capable of rendering GPU acceleration should have no issue. Plus, if players have psyco installed, they can experience a slight performance boost.
Numerous features enhance the gameplay experience, including motion blur, particle effects, and randomly generated weapons and enemies. The title's object-orientated, modular code makes it possible for passionate coders to contribute new content, such as weapons or enemy types.
Triplex Invaders was originally created by three Johns Hopkins students, with Arthur Danskin continuing to develop the game. Recent updates have rebalanced gameplay mechanics, added new weapons and sound effects, and addressed bug and stability issues.
System requirements include Python, PyGame, PyOpenGL, and psyco. Overall, Triplex Invaders is a highly polished and addictive game with a great visual style, ideal for fans of classic arcade gameplay.
