Vim-based Twitter client is a basic software tool to access Twitter.
To use this client, you will need to have Vim compiled with Python bindings. Installation is easy - just extract the tarball into your ~/.vim/plugin directory.
Before you can update your status or fetch your friend's timeline, you need to set your Twitter account's username and password. You can manually set these using the command ":let g:twitterusername='username'" and ":let g:twitterpassword='password'" in Vim or add them to your ~/.vimrc file.
A fellow user of this script recommends adding some helpful mappings to your _vimrc file, including a mapping that prompts for your Twitter password so you don't have to hardcode it in a file. Another mapping prompts you for your status message, and yet another lists your friend's Twitter accounts.
The latest release includes a bugfix that now allows for statuses containing single-quotations. Overall, Twitter from Vim is an easy-to-use client that simplifies managing your Twitter account from within Vim.
