UbuntuLiveChatSupport enables Ubuntu users to connect with others who speak the same language and are located nearby, facilitating communication as they navigate the platform.
The rationale behind it is that people who don't speak English and need local support in their language would face challenges to gain help from existing documentations. Especially when there are only a few documentations available in their language. However, if they can speak to someone who can understand their language, they can talk to an experienced user who can easily provide them with answers. This can also have a positive impact since they might collaborate on translating documentations and software for their language, as well as contribute to the Ubuntu work.
Another problem with the current way of getting help in Ubuntu is that the user needs to read and browse through documentations. But what most users really want is to get answers to their questions directly. Researching a particular problem can be time-consuming, but getting the right answer from an experienced user is the easiest way.
The software will use Gaim as an IRC client, but will not change the main Gaim configurations. It will add the IRC channels defined in InternetRelayChat in Gaim buddy list, namely, Localized Channels, Support Channels, and Team Collaboration Channels. The latest release includes changes such as renaming "Auto-Join Default" to "Default," overhauling the Local Channel names, adding a new channel that will be autojoined based on language, and changing the name of "Local Ubuntu Channels" to "Local Channels."
Other changes include UI improvements, a warning for "Passwords do not match" in the Nick registration, and the implementation of different layout options in the login page. The software also adds a new checkbox for privacy during registration, which will enable registration privacy when toggled. All in all, UbuntuLiveChatSupport is a useful software for Ubuntu users looking for fast and effective communication with other users.
