UFRaw-Assist applies raw conversion on multiple images using UFRaw's command-line batch.
Users have several options for raw conversion, including using the UFRaw-Assist options, an existing *.ufraw ID file, or a standardized configuration file. The software also utilizes a new wavelet noise reduction facility that is being adapted for UFRaw by its creator, Udi Fuchs, on the basis of the original DCRaw by Dave Coffins. To use this feature, users will need to use the CVS version of UFRaw or version 0.12 when it is released.
In addition to raw conversion, UFRaw-Assist allows users to convert images to multiple file formats and sharpen them with IM's unsharp mask facility. Users can also generate web thumbnails with selected frame colors and text annotation.
The software is easy to use, with options for either through a Konqueror servicemenu or as a drop-target on the Desktop (drag and drop raw files on the desktop icon). The only requirement is Kommander.
In the latest release, UFRaw-Assist now uses exiv2 to retain full exif information in both jpeg full-size output and thumbnails. Users can be confident that their images will maintain their metadata throughout the conversion process. Overall, UFRaw-Assist is a great software option for batch raw conversion and customization.
