URLencode Widget allows for fast URL encoding and decoding of clipboard text.
If you're a macOS user, you may have noticed that the clipboard is capable of copying RTF-formatted text. However, this formatted text can be problematic when it comes to encoding. The URLencode widget solves this problem by converting the formatted text to plain text before encoding it.
Using the URLencode widget is incredibly simple. Just copy the text you want to encode to your clipboard using the Command-C shortcut, open your Dashboard using the F12 button, and then click either the ENCODE or DECODE buttons on the widget. The resulting text will be placed back onto your clipboard, ready for you to paste (using the Command-V shortcut) into another application.
So why might you need a tool like this? If you're a programmer, database administrator, or XML user, you'll know that encoding text by hand can be a time-consuming and error-prone process. Encoding text changes all special characters, including spaces, into a 3-character string starting with "%" and ending with the two-digit ASCII code for the character. With the URLencode widget, however, you can quickly and easily encode and decode text with just a few clicks.
The latest version of the URLencode widget includes a number of bug fixes, including issues with quote characters and mixed-encoded text. If you're looking for a powerful yet simple tool for encoding and decoding text, the URLencode widget is a great choice.
