Uvlan is a virtual local area network solution that operates in user-space, designed to enable users to set up virtual networks easily.
Unlike a traditional VPN, uvlan is peer-to-peer, simpler, and operates at Layer-2 (Ethernet). Plus, it doesn't require licensing. Installation is straightforward, requiring only the installation of libpcap on Linux/Unix systems.
After extracting the binary distribution ZIP, simply generate your key files with uvlan -G, take note of the Ethernet device listed in the output (such as eth0), and email your friends your ECC public-key found in uvlan_pub.txt. Then, edit the uvlan.xml file using the example from the ZIP as a guide, filling in your ethX value, IP address, UDP port number, private-key from uvlan_pri.txt, and all your peers in their own block.
Overall, uvlan is a powerful and flexible solution for network routing that offers significant advantages over traditional VPN technology.
