The VDR Premiere EPG Plugin extracts and interprets the extended electronic program guide (EPG) information transmitted by Premiere via their portal channels such as SPORT PORTAL.
This plugin is based on the premiereepg2vdr commandline tool developed by Axel Katzur. The resulting EPG events are fed into the VDRs normal EPG database, which makes it easier to access the EPG data. It should be noted that EPG entries created by this plugin aren't fully compatible with entries created by premiereepg2vdr. This is because this plugin used a different scheme to map the EventID, which is more reliable, in my opinion.
If you're upgrading from premiereepg2vdr, it is crucial to delete your epg.data file. Otherwise, you will see duplicate EPG events. The plugin provides an option to tag events, i.e. the same event with the same time on different channels. For instance, F1 sub-channels. The tagging format can be selected in the plugin setup menu.
Moreover, two switches are present in the plugin setup menu to control inclusion of order and parental rating information into the event description. The software is automatic, and there are no commandline options for this plugin. There is also no plugin mainmenu entry. Whenever a device is tuned to a Premiere channel, either by EPG scan or manually, the Premiere EPG scan is triggered.
The software requires DVB Driver Project and Video Disk Recorder. What's New in This Release is its support for VDR 1.5.7+ gettext internationalization, which allows easier translation of the plugin into multiple languages. Overall, VDR Premiere EPG Plugin is a must-have software for any VDR plugin enthusiast who wants to make the most out of their EPG data.
