viAllOver is a Mac OS X loadable bundle that is added to the InputManagers folder, enhancing the user's experience.
Mac OS X comes with emacs key bindings for text views. However, not everyone knows or wants to learn emacs, which is where ViAllOver comes in. This software is currently in alpha and is mostly a proof of concept. Therefore, it might have memory leaks, and it could crash your apps. Use it at your own risk. The developer takes no responsibility for any damages or problems that may occur.
The latest release of this software has added several new functions and features, all of which make it more convenient and user-friendly. Some of these features include: improved move to first character, join, line pasting, and change case. This release also includes better support for the use of movement and find commands in scroll views. Furthermore, the default color for visual mode has been changed, and a system preference pane for installation/removal of the input manager and configuration has been added.
The format of the preference file has been changed, and an option to start ViAllOver in command mode has been added. Additionally, SecurityAgent (com.apple.securityagent) has been included in the default exclude list, and options to not modify the insertion point when in insert mode have also been added. There are further options to set the alpha for the insertion point and the selection. Finally, an option to instantly disable ViAllOver without uninstalling the input manager is now available.
Overall, ViAllOver is a great software bundle and makes text editing easier and more convenient. Although it is still in alpha, it provides a range of features that make it a convenient tool for Mac users.
