Vifm is a ncurses file manager that boasts vi-like keybindings.
Basic Movement keys such as j, k, l, and h will help you navigate through your files. You can even use gg or G to move to the top or bottom of the file list. Other key combinations like Ctrl-F, Ctrl-B, or Page Down/Page Up will move you forward or backward a page, respectively. Additionally, you can move to specific files with commands like :34[Enter] or :0[Enter]. Toggling between both file lists is as easy as using the Space Bar or Tab Key, while Ctrl+G opens a window with detailed information about the current file.
Marks can also be set the same way as they are in vi, with m[a-z][A-Z][0-9] to set a mark for the current file, and '[a-z][A-Z][0-9] to move to the file set for the mark.
In terms of searching, vifm allows you to use /regular expression pattern[Return] to highlight all files matching the pattern. Additional Normal Mode Keys like [count]dd, [count]yy, p, t, and v are also available to help with file management.
Commands can be accessed through :com, with options like :com name action to set a new user command or :delc command_name to remove a user command. File filtering options like :fil regular_expression pattern to filter files that match a regular expression, or :empty to remove 'rm -fr' files from the Trash directory, exist as well. Other commands include :sh to start a shell, :q or :x to exit vifm, and :h[elp] to access the help file.
In terms of updates, this release comes with basic UTF-8 support, a quick file view, and a configurable color scheme based on directory names. The basic vim folding key bindings are also used for filtering files, with zO showing the filtered files, zM filtering the files matching the filename filter, zo showing all of the dot files, zm filtering all of the dot files, and zf filtering all of the selected files.
Overall, vifm is an excellent file manager that offers a range of features and commands that make file navigation and management a breeze.
