VisiScript is a user-friendly UI for minscript, Python, Ruby, Perl, Tcl, and Lisp/Scheme scripting languages that simplifies integration with other applications.
VisiScript is compatible with the Qtopia desktop environment on the Zaurus and other platforms supporting Qt 3.x. The program enables users to create, read, modify, save, and execute script files while allowing them to select different script languages. When it comes to script execution, VisiScript uses script interpreters that are readily available on your system.
Since its version 0.3.0 update, the QScintilla library is utilized as the editor-widget, making VisiScript an incredibly comfortable programming editor with syntax highlighting and many other features. To run a script, VisiScript starts the actual selected script interpreter in an external process with the (temporary) script file. The output of this external process is then displayed in a text field below the script text field.
It's essential to install at least one additional script interpreter on the zaurus to use this program appropriately. Fortunately, there is a (not complete) list of available script languages for the Zaurus that includes minscript (a Java/C++ like script language), Python, Ruby, Perl, Tcl, Lush (a Lisp interpreter), and Scheme48, and Chicken.
Overall, VisiScript is a software tool that is perfect for those who are in search of a straightforward, user-friendly way to code in multiple scripting languages from a single integrated environment.
