Visual MIBrowser is SNMPv1/v2/v3 compliant software which enables users to view MIBs and perform Get, Set, or Walk operations. It also allows auto-discovery of SNMP Agents, setting alarm thresholds and more, providing basic support for network monitoring and management.
With the Browse Tree tab, users can easily display all MIB constructs that have an OID assignment. Additionally, they can save and re-execute commonly used operations and save results for use by other programs. The MIB tab displays all loaded and compiled MIBs. Users can also communicate with multiple agents simultaneously, including SNMP Trap / Inform reception, and can access multiple query output windows. Furthermore, there is a Notification Generator for sending "test" traps or informs.
The software has an import/compile facility for enterprise MIBs, including automatic loading of MIB Import dependencies. It also includes a MIB Compiler with configurable sensitivity, as well as a MIB editor Window. When loading a MIB with errors, the MIB Compiler's directive launches the MIB editor window, which includes error highlighting.
Users have the ability to run this software as a 98/Me/NT/2000/XP Service. The MIB Tab has been improved, so now users can select multiple MIBs simultaneously, create and delete MIB groups, move selected MIB(s), into groups, out of groups, elsewhere in the tree, and enjoy automatic conversion of filenames into module names for easier MIB selection and loading.
With Visual MIBrowser, users benefit from SMIv1 Traps and SMIv2 Notifications presentation. The software handles notifications as per SNMPv3 specification and as a SNMP entity, it implements SNMP-TARGET-MIB and SNMP-NOTIFICATION-MIB. It also offers rich alarm handling capabilities such as support for different alarm detection algorithms for charts, e.g. thresholds: rising, falling and rising or falling, value: change and no change. Users can receive audio alarm notification when the browser is minimized to the system tray. Additionally, they can benefit from user definable, color-coded alarm priorities and notification priorities.
Other features of Visual MIBrowser include automatic resolution of IMPORTed MIBs, configurable, continuous data logging in a database engine, and improved user interface and search capabilities.
