VK Tafe software analyzes MPEG-2 transport streams, providing parsing capability to enhance the streaming experience.
In the latest release of VK Tafe, there have been numerous updates and improvements. One of the most notable ones is the new UI changes to the PCR Analysis Screen, making it easier to use and navigate. In addition, the latest version introduces a new PTS/DTS graph that graphs the PTS/DTS values against the current PCR. Furthermore, there is now a UI log for STD buffer analysis, providing even more detail and insight into the transport streams.
The HTML documentation has also been updated, making it more comprehensive and easy to understand. The target build platform has been moved to a "modern" distro, SuSE 10, which brings many benefits, including better performance and stability.
The Win32 port has also been updated in this release, improving its functionality and compatibility with newer operating systems. The previous version of VK Tafe for Mandrake has been frozen at version 0.8f and is still included in the VK-Tools packets.
In addition to VK Tafe, the release includes updates to two other components of the VK-Tools suite. View_knot_dump now features a UI that no longer depends on 'icons' subdirectory to properly display. Furthermore, if the local '.view_knot_view' config does not specify the location of vk_tafe, the viewer assumes it's somewhere in the PATH and tries to launch it.
Finally, the plugins have been removed from view_knot_viewer as they have not been functioning for the last five years. Overall, this release is an excellent improvement to an already outstanding software package.
