VolID software allows modification of disk drive's Volume ID, distinct from its physical serial number. The Volume ID format is four sets of four characters (0-9, A-F).
One thing to keep in mind is that changes made to NTFS volumes with VolID may not be visible until your next reboot. Additionally, it's important to shut down any applications you have running before changing a volume ID.
Some features of VolID include the ability to set volume IDs on both FAT and NTFS hard drives and floppy disks. If you need to restore the drive's volume ID to the old one, you can simply press the "Restore" button.
In terms of system requirements, VolID is compatible with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Windows 7. You'll need at least 64MB of RAM and 20MB of disk space to use this software.
