VSA is a GNOME and EsounD software that enhances audio experience with visual sound analysis and effects.
VSA comes in two versions: the application version (vsa) and the GNOME panel applet (vsa_applet). Once installed, VSA is easily accessible via the GNOME menu under Multimedia -> Visual Sound Analyzer. Users can also access the applet by going to panel -> Add applet -> Multimedia -> Visual Sound Analyzer.
One of VSA's most standout features is its fullscreen mode. To access fullscreen mode, users will need a 320x240 mode line in their XF86Config file. However, it is important to note that modes higher than 320x240 are not recommended for machines slower than 450 MHz. If users still wish to use a higher resolution, they can simply set the frame rate lower.
Customization is key with VSA. Users can add plugins to the display list by dragging them from the available plugins list. They can also change the order of plugins by dragging and dropping them around. To configure a specific plugin, simply double click on its name in the display list. Users can also learn more about a specific plugin by double clicking on its name in the available plugins list. Removing a plugin from the display list is as simple as dragging it back to the available plugins list.
As for the latest release, version 0.9.7 includes an added non-DGA fullscreen mode. Overall, VSA is a powerful tool for anyone looking to add some visual flair to their audio experience.
