WinXAR is a security software that encrypts, decrypts, and shreds files for added protection. Sensitive files can be stored in encrypted virtual disks and be secure when shared via email or removable media.
The main window of WinXAR has a list featuring the names, sizes, and types of files in the directory, and it’s updated with real time modified time stamps. Users can sort and scroll through the comprehensive list based on their preference. A quick access tool bar provides for speedy navigation to frequently used actions while context-sensitive help is also available.
Double-clicking on a file in the primary WinXAR window works the same way as opening the file using Windows Explorer. If the file is encrypted in the application, it is automatically extracted, and users can then work with it. By default, the file opens using the relevant application (like Notepad for .txt files) based on the settings on standard windows associations.
The encrypted virtual disk feature of WinXAR does not differ from any other hard disk drive. However, it has an added advantage of supporting transparent and on-the-fly encryption, enabling users to keep data secure. Users authenticate logins by putting in their password when the virtual disk gets mounted. Afterward, anything accessed on the disk gets automatically decrypted, and anything placed on this disk also gets encrypted.
In case of an incorrect system shutdown or system crash, where files might be left unsecured and vulnerable, the WinXAR disk encryption maintains data intact by keeping its files encrypted. The software provides a complete encryption solution for all files, whether stored on a PC, a USB stick, a removable disk, or even emails. It protects users from hackers, thieves, competitors, secret services, or any other possible intruder. Users of WinXAR can trust completely in the software's protection against data loss and theft.
