WMappl is an uncomplicated scrolling launcher designed for WindowMaker dock. It is a user-friendly program that can make application access and navigation handy.
Installation is made simple thanks to the `configure' shell script. It attempts to identify the values needed for compilation and then creates a `Makefile' along with `.h' files with system-dependent definitions. A `config.status' shell script and `config.log' file are also created. The latter is particularly useful for detecting compiling errors. There is an optional caching feature that can be enabled with `--cache-file=config.cache' or simply `-C'. Just keep in mind that caching is off by default to prevent issues with stale cache files. If you need to perform unusual actions during compilation, you can email diffs or instructions to the address in the `README.' If you ever need to remove `config.cache,' it can be deleted or edited.
To compile the package, use the `cd' command to navigate to the directory containing the source files. Then, type `./configure' to set up the program for your system. If you're having problems with an old version of System V, use `sh ./configure' instead of `csh' to prevent the shell from running `configure' on its own. Once the setup process is complete, type `make' to compile the package. Self-tests can be run with `make check.' Use `make install' to install the programs, data files, and any accompanying documentation. Cleaning up the source code directory can be done with `make clean.' If needed, `make distclean' can remove the files created during configuration. `make maintainer-clean' is intended for the package's developers and will require additional programs for file regeneration.
The latest release of wmappl includes an updated man page (`man/wmapplrc.5') that works with the tooltip_font option.
